East Rudham

A very simple fix to this job in East Rudham, Norfolk, which didn't need to involve Lime rendering or Lime washing, just the digging of a French drain, a minimum of lime repointing and a bit of hard work!

The internal wall of an old farm labourer's cottage was suffering from damp problems caused by moisture being trapped by the external, hard cement covering the Lime Pointing.

The Cement was carefully removed, exposing the original Lime Joints. We decided to do nothing further apart from a French Drain, and allow the original Lime to resume it's job now that the cement has been removed.
